That said, this sounds pretty likely to be what happens in the film. Spring-boarding from that information and piecing together Captain America: Civil War’s plot based on what happens in the comics is easy. We know that Captain America will fight Crossbones, and we know Black Panther, Iron Man, and Winter Soldier are in the film. I’m not sure what the source of these rumors are, but it seems to be more of a case of connecting the dots. This is an allusion to him becoming the new Captain America after Steve Rogers is assassinated by Crossbones at the end of the comic book version of Civil War. One final bit of information that Lainey Gossip hints at is Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes’ role is about to get much larger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
